All of our dogs and cats are in foster homes and we have no paid staff.  If you have questions concerning a specific animal,  PLEASE fill out an application and the foster parent will be in touch.  We will not arrange any home visits with any of our dogs and cats until your application is processed.  Please understand our foster parents are precious to our 2nd Chance family; without them we cannot function, so we do our best to not burden them with multiple appointments.  Our foster parents will choose their top 3 applications and arrange home visits with these applicants.  The adopter will be chosen at that time.  The process can take anywhere from a week to a month.  We want to make sure our little furry ones are placed in their "forever home" and never have to go through a rehoming again!

Meet Lucy!  She came as a stray and the shelter called her Mariah, but that was too close to another foster we had, so she is now Lucy ;) Lucy has been with is for over a year and is still VERY skittish!  She needs another dog in the home to teach her how to be OK  with her new humans. She is going to take a lot of work to get her to trust you. She bounces around like a bunny outside! It is so funny!  She sleeps in bed, tucked into another dog.  She has started to come sit on the couch with us and snuggle, but it is on her terms and not for very long.  It's a shame to think that a puppy cant trust humans and makes you wonder what went on in her short life before coming to us, but she is in a loving home now until her perfect fit comes along!
Shes great with other dogs, has not been around cats.
She would be fine with older kids, but shes just too scared for younger children.

Millie is the sweetest dog!  If we found the owner we would prosecute them!  Little Millie was in horrible shape and just being eaten alive by fleas!  A lot of her hair was missing and she was thin and very hungry!!  The first couple weeks she was just happy to eat and sleep on her foster mommy's leather couch.  She had the formal living room all to herself and she soaked up the love and attention.  I think she was just so happy to relax and not have to be on constant alert for what was going on around her.  She was given medicated baths every three days and kept on antibiotics.  She is now feeling much better LOVES her foster buddies especially Skip, JR and Jackson.  They play together 24/7 running like wild ones around the back yard.  She is gentle when she plays with the little dogs and is just super sweet!
Update - Millie has an issue with stuffed furniture, she believes it should be eaten!  She does not do well in a crate so she would need a room without furniture when you are away.  A family where someone is home a lot is best as she has some anxieties...

MUST have a large fenced in yard to play in!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats

Please fill out an adoption application:

Adoption Application (Cat)

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to  families with children under the age of 5.  We do not adopt dogs to renters.  Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment.  The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners.  We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.  Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
