 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)
When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.
The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)

Can I tell you I am LOVING my foster home!!!  They let me live in the house WOW!!!  All my life I had to live outside in the cold, rain, snow, heat you name it I lived in it.  Then I got knocked up and had 6 puppies all outside in the cold this winter.  I did my best to keep them as warm and dry as I could it was hard!!  My owner gave away 2 of my puppies at 4 weeks!  I was so sad I know they weren't ready to not have my warm milk but he didn't care :(  Then a lady came along and she talked to my owner and he said if you want them take them!  She scooped us up and our life just keeps getting better and better!!  My pups are 8 weeks old and I had had enough of them feeding on me so they went to another foster home and I'm getting a chance to be spoiled for the first time in my life and it is AMAZING!!!!

Foster update:Amber has adjusted to inside life without a problem!  She has become friends with all her foster dog brothers and sisters of all sizes.  She certainly has a lot of energy to play.  Amber loves to play tug of war with her dog friends or her humans, chew on bones or toss around a squeaky toy.  She will sleep on her bed in her crate at night and loves to snuggle in the morning in bed with everyone. Barking while she plays with her dog friends happens frequently, but its all in good fun, I think she likes to hear herself!  Amber is now house trained and hasn't had an accident in over a week. She is very friendly with new people and dogs she meets.  Walking on a leash is her work in progress, but is a very quick learner.  If you are looking for a sweet yet active girl, she is the one for you!

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

 

A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
