Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!
About Lil Ricky
Status: Available for Sponsorship
General Color: Liver with White
Current Age: 10 Years 3 Months (best estimate)
UPDATE - Lil Ricky was taken to Columbia Animal Hospital after having a seizure. After blood work and xrays it was discovered that our sweet little guy has an insuloma on his pancreas. This causes him to not be able to keep his glucose levels up and he bottoms out and either has a seizure or would die. We give him glucose every 4 hours even throughout the night. I am thankful to be able to function on less sleep than most people LOL. There is no "cure" so we will continue to support him until his body says it is done and then we will hold him and talk about how wonderful he was until he "soars" . Thank you for your sponsorship and support!
Well I can't say I lived a good life :( I've been tossed around like a beach ball. I've lived in 6 homes and then when I got sick my owner didn't want to pay what it would cost to make me better :( I had a large mass on my face which was a blocked tear duct so it had filled with puss it wasnt' very comfortable :( My owner took me to the vet where the vet told them what needed done. Of course, my owner said NO to treatment and didn't want me so he signed me over to the vet. The vet took me home that night and he had 2 large dogs. They took me outside to go potty but not on a leash :( so I took off. It was in the middle of a thunderstorm and I was so scared :( Luckily a nice lady found me and she brought me to 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue. When the vet found out where I was they were going to take me back!! Lucky for me the Director of 2nd Chance talked them into allowing me to live at the ranch!! I am happy, safe and healthy. 2nd Chance took care of getting me the surgery I needed. I will be so happy if my story can help them raise the money they need for the surgical center! I know some day many pups will be saved because 2nd Chance will have a surgical center to help them all!!! Oh by the way I am NOT up for adoption because I am FUREVER HOME at the Ranch and I LOVE IT!!!
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to
families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
