2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)
When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.
The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)
Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hi there! My name is Peaches. My foster parents call me Peachy, Peach, Sweet Georgia Peach - you get the gist, I’m the sweetest girl around! I’m a happy girl who LOVES life - playing with toys, giving copious amounts of kisses, snuggling up under the covers and eating ALL the treats!

When I arrived at 2nd Chance I was in rough shape – as a result of a spinal injury my back end and legs were completely useless, I couldn’t control my bladder or even scratch my face. You can imagine I was sad and very scared. After a major spinal surgery, a lengthy hospitalization, crate rest, physical therapy and some TLC I was on the mend. Everyone thought I would need a cart for the rest of my life and that I would never regain feeling in my back end. Guess what? They were all WRONG. I do not need a cart and I have feeling in my back paws (this even surprised my handsome doctor). I can run around the yard with my foster dad, go for walks and kick at my foster mom when she tickles my feet! I’m able to potty on my own too!

I'm real excited about getting my very own forever home someday. Fill out an application if you are interested in a sweet girl like me!

Special Needs: While Peaches has healed remarkably well, she does have a few special needs that will require some consideration from potential fur-ever parents.

Peaches can walk and run on her own she does extremely well on soft surfaces, in the grass and on non-slip surfaces. She can walk okay on tile, linoleum, and hardwood floors with an abnormal gait and some slippage. Peaches cannot jump on furniture or climb stairs. Each night we lift her on the couch to snuggle and carry her upstairs for bedtime. While she will continue to try, it is strongly advised she not attempt these things. She has been adapting quite well. As a matter of fact, she will walk to the stairs, sit and wait for someone to pick her up!

Peaches can potty on her own but may require a little help to fully empty her bladder. This is a simple as touching her belly before bringing her back inside.

She was also recently diagnosed with cushings disease, this just requires a medication twice weekly and her routine vet visits. Peaches thinks the pills are extra treats, it does not slow her down at all!

Ps. If you have questions, my foster mommy said to email her directly at 2C4Lwebsite@gmail.com

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
